Tiered Montessori Bookshelf

Our Tiered Montessori Bookshelf is designed to display book covers outward. This allows pre-reading children to make independent decisions about which books to read. The design encourages independence, decision-making skills, and fosters a love for reading from an early age. 

Toddlers and early readers often choose books based on their covers, making it important to have them on display. Our Montessori-inspired wooden tiered shelves encourage independence by allowing children to pick their favorites with ease.

Handcrafted in our wood shop, this bookshelf features four shelves. The front lip is designed to be low enough for easy viewing of book covers, while still tall enough to keep books securely in place.

What age is the Tiered Montessori Bookshelf for?

The Montessori Bookshelf is suitable for all ages. The forward-facing display makes it easy for infants and toddlers to see and choose their own books, which supports early independence and literacy development.

Younger children use the lower tiers to access books safely, while older children continue to enjoy the full height of the shelf as their interests and reading habits grow.

How many books does the Bookshelf hold?

It depends on the size of the books and whether you stack any in front of each other. If you’re single-stacking large picture books, it holds about 12. If you’re filling it all the way up with smaller books it can hold about 40-50.

When can I expect my order to arrive?

Shipping estimates are available on each product page. These indicate when the item will be shipped from our woodshop in Los Angeles. Domestic orders are shipped via UPS Ground, and transit may take up to 5-7 business days depending on your location. Please note that our team does not operate on weekends and federal holidays. Orders placed on these days will be shipped on the next business day.

Is assembly easy? Tools? How do I assemble?

Our furniture requires minimal assembly, needing only an Allen key, which we provide along with online instructions. If your order includes over 20 screws, we'll also include hex drill bits to make assembly quicker. An electric drill could be useful but isn't necessary. You can find all our assembly instructions here.

How should I clean for my RAD furniture?

To clean your furniture, use a non-toxic mixture of vinegar and warm water. Spray the surface and immediately wipe it dry with a clean cloth. Never soak or immerse wooden furniture in water as it can cause the wood to swell and deform.

Can I use my furniture outside?

You can use your furniture outdoors but don't leave it outside for longer than necessary, as it's not designed to withstand extended exposure to outdoor elements. After use, wipe down the surface with a dry cloth. Leaving your furniture outside may void your warranty.

What is your policy on returns and exchanges?

We accept returns within 30 days of delivery for unused products in their original packaging. If you receive a damaged or defective item, contact our support team within 7 days of delivery for an exchange or replacement. Please note, customized or assembled items are non-returnable.
