Inspired by Magda Gerber, the founder of RIE, these wooden stools offer freedom of movement and are perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. Available in two height options, these backless stools pair seamlessly with RAD Toddler Height Tables and RAD Preschool Height Tables. Enhance mealtimes with weaning activities and provide a comfortable seating environment for your child's development.

Stools come in two sizes, a 6.5"(H) for toddlers and a slightly taller 11"(H) stool for preschoolers. Inspired by the stools originally ideated by RIE founder Magda Gerber, they allow children freedom of movement that regular chairs do not. Infants and toddlers also use the stools as play surfaces.

The Stools are perfectly suited for young children since they do not need a back support. Pairs with RAD Toddler Height Tables and RAD Preschool Height Tables.

This product ships assembled. No tools are required.

Although our products are crafted to encourage exploration and free-form play, please never leave your child unattended to avoid injury.

What age is the Magda Stool for?

The Magda Stool comes in two sizes — the 6.5" Toddler Height and the 11" Preschool Height. These stools are generally suited for children 12 months to about 5 years, depending on each child’s individual height and stage of development.

The most reliable way to choose the right size is to measure from the back of your child's knee to the floor. Ideally, that measurement should be close to the seat height you select. There is some flexibility, and since children grow quickly, it is often better to choose a size they can grow into.

What Tables does it work with?

The 6.5" Toddler Height Magda Stool works with our 13" Toddler Height Tables.

The 11" Preschool Height Magda Stool works with our 19" Preschool Height Tables.

What is the weight limit?

Sturdy construction supports up to 200 lbs

Do these stools require assembly?

No, our Magda Stools come fully assembled and ready to use.

When can I expect my order to arrive?

Shipping estimates are available on each product page. These indicate when the item will be shipped from our woodshop in Los Angeles. Domestic orders are shipped via UPS Ground, and transit may take up to 5-7 business days depending on your location. Please note that our team does not operate on weekends and federal holidays. Orders placed on these days will be shipped on the next business day.

Is assembly easy? Tools? How do I assemble?

Our furniture requires minimal assembly, needing only an Allen key, which we provide along with online instructions. If your order includes over 20 screws, we'll also include hex drill bits to make assembly quicker. An electric drill could be useful but isn't necessary. You can find all our assembly instructions here.

How should I clean for my RAD furniture?

To clean your furniture, use a non-toxic mixture of vinegar and warm water. Spray the surface and immediately wipe it dry with a clean cloth. Never soak or immerse wooden furniture in water as it can cause the wood to swell and deform.

Can I use my furniture outside?

You can use your furniture outdoors but don't leave it outside for longer than necessary, as it's not designed to withstand extended exposure to outdoor elements. After use, wipe down the surface with a dry cloth. Leaving your furniture outside may void your warranty.

What is your policy on returns and exchanges?

We accept returns within 30 days of delivery for unused products in their original packaging. If you receive a damaged or defective item, contact our support team within 7 days of delivery for an exchange or replacement. Please note, customized or assembled items are non-returnable.
